About
Care Corner started as a folder of handwritten notes passed around a staff room. It's still much the same idea: the things you wish someone had told you before your first shift, written down plainly.
Who it's for
Casual and agency workers
You walk into a different home every week. A quick refresher on the basics helps you settle in fast.
People returning to care
Equipment and expectations change. Catch up without sitting through a full course again.
Family carers and volunteers
You're not staff, but you help with meals, walks and company. A little know-how goes a long way.
How the sessions are written
- One topic, one sitting. If it can't be covered in under half an hour, it gets split in two.
- Plain English. No jargon without an explanation, and no acronyms for the sake of it.
- Real situations. Every session is built around things that actually happen on a shift.
- Reviewed regularly. Sessions are re-read and tidied up as practice changes.
What this isn't
Care Corner is not a registered training organisation and doesn't issue certificates or qualifications. It's a study aid. Your employer's training and your facility's procedures always come first.
